ABOUT THIS CONDO:
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! This private oasis is located on the GROUND FLOOR of the private NORTH side of Honua Kai - you don't face other units. KONEA 142 is the ONLY northwest facing ground floor 2 bedroom 2 bath condominium home on the north side of the Konea building. This is the quietest and most private part of Honua Kai - but it has the EASIEST ACCESS to all resort amenities. You can come and go securely from the back door facing the yard or the front door to the hallway.
VIDEO TOURS: See the video tour of my unit and the nearby pool, and the matterport tour of the unit. After the video was made the living room TV was upgraded to a 65 inch 4k Samsung hung on the wall. After the matterport tour was made in 2018, Iin December 2022 more upgrades were made as shown in the pictures:

3) 3 new beautiful koa Minke fans with lights were installed in the bedrooms and living rooms.
4) New luxury vinyl plank flooring replaced the carpet.

Our front door is very close to the door to the interior courtyard. From either entrance, you reach all of the attractions of this gorgeous resort MUCH FASTER than if you stayed above the ground floor - no waiting for an elevator!
Our GROUND FLOOR location is so CONVENIENT for hanging out at the pools or beach to pop into your own condominium to use the bathroom, freshen your drinks, have a snack, or grab the provided beach chairs! Our guests prefer the PRIVACY of our "exterior" northwest facing lanai over the condos across the hall from us - their lanais face the interior courtyard which gives other condos across the courtyard a view into their units.

HONUA KAI PAINT PROJECT: As of July 2023 routine maintenance consisting of painting has begun on the exterior of the Konea building. Our "42" stack was completed in early August 2023 so our furnished lanai is available for your enjoyment. The last part of the north side of Konea is scheduled for completion on 1/5/24 and I believe that shortly after that the grassy path will be re sodded and usable.
There are many choices at Honua Kai . It is CRUCIAL for you to know EXACTLY what condo you are booking. Be absolutely sure you have A SPECIFIC CONDO NUMBER shown on a RESORT MAP (as seen in my pictures). Be certain that you see photos of THE EXACT condo you are booking. THESE PHOTOS ARE OF MY CONDO - KONEA 142. My condo has the most convenient ground floor location on the private north side of the Konea building and offers the best VALUE and best OVERALL EXPERIENCE available at Honua Kai.
I still recommend that you book dining reservations well in advance at some of the most popular restaurants if you are coming to Maui any time soon.
Honua Kai is running normally and all of its amenities are available including the restaurants, spa, stores, concierge, towel tracker dispensers, bell and valet, etc.
For guests that book I highly recommend considering purchasing a trip cancellation insurance policy and consider adding a cancel for any reason rider. See squaremouth dot com. Surprisingly affordable.

My favorite aspect of my second home at Honua Kai is the extra space and convenience on the GROUND FLOOR! I've installed a keyed lock for the back doors for secure back door access. Everything is so close and easy to get to from this condo. I could eat all my meals at Duke's, but we've got a full kitchen and it's great that both our front and back doors are a ONE MINUTE walk to the Viking BBQs, so unlike upper floor guests who need the elevator, our food arrives hot at our dining table.
My favorite features of the condominium itself is the custom glass Nano doors that allow you to open the entire wall and seamlessly integrate the tropical outdoors into our vacation home. I also love the vaulted ceilings that you ONLY get on the ground floor (since we're on the same floor as the grand lobby). It feels so roomy! The new beautiful Minke fans installed December 2022 move more air than the ones they replaced.
At Honua Kai you are on the world famous Ka'anapali Beach but well away from the crowds that you'll sometimes find in the more densely populated area south of Black Rock.
Our unit is great for 2 couples since each couple gets a bedroom suite with its own bathroom with a large living area between.
Our unit is also wonderful for families or other groups up to 6 since the second bedroom can be made up with 2 twins and the sleeper couch is queen size.
I've made the unit very 'kid friendly' with a pack n' play portable crib, 2 bed bumpers, a Fisher Price portable high chair / booster seat that straps to a dining chair, sippy cups. The WIFI is plenty fast and strong to use your streaming video services such as Netflix.

Cancellation Policy: One hundred percent (100.00%) of the total booking charges (less $200.00 taxable cancellation fee) will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 60 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. Fifty percent (50.00%) of the total booking charges (less $200.00 taxable cancellation fee) will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 30 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 30 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
About the Owner
My name is "Clever" Trevor Alt. I practiced law in California for 10 years, then had an epiphany and realized firefighting was my calling. I recently retired from a 19 year career firefighter for the Reno Fire Department in Nevada. This was a very challenging but very fulfilling career switch. Helping people feels great and I do also get a lot of fulfillment by helping my guests enjoy amazing vacations in my favorite place in the world - Maui! I am a fitness and health nut and I exercise religiously. I enjoy cycling, weightlifting, and water and snow skiing, and have completed an xterrra sprint triatholon and a half marathon. When I was a young attorney, I starting saving as much as I could and since then I have invested carefully but aggressively with the goal of living in Hawaii at least part time someday. Purchasing this property at the incredible Honua Kai resort was a big step toward achieving that goal. When I move to Maui full or part time I hope to learn to kite board and surf and now that I'm an empty nester I'm reviving my long dormant golf swing. I've got good local knowledge regarding Maui golf courses, so please ask. I will continue my success as a vacation rental owner and manager by exceeding my guests' expectations and delivering a superb luxury vacation experience every time! I pay my team well and you'll see that I've spared no expense on the furnishings and things when you visit. Staying here generates a lot of tax revenue for the state and county and they money you spend here directly supports the local economy. Arguably the best thing you can do for the people affected by the Lahaina fire is to vacation right here and patronize the local businesses.
